What is water absorbency?

Measuring the amount of water absorbed by the surface of the paper, corrugated sheet and a board is known as the water absorbency strength of a material. This can be measured by various test methods and by using multiple instruments. How to perform the cobb sizing test?

After a particular time period, the water will be absorbed by the sample . Now, we need to drain off the extra water from the surface of the sample using the roller provided with the machine.

Rotate the roller over the sample without putting any pressure in forward and backward direction. After extracting the extra absorbed water, weigh the sample. The amount of weight obtained by the paper sample after soaking the extra water is considered as the water absorbency strength of the materials.

By performing the test, you can easily examine the amount of water a cardboard can absorb and how much it is resistant to water.
